Rangers accuse Dundee of ‘negligence and unprofessionalism’ after postponement

Rangers have accused Dundee of “negligence and unprofessionalism” after their cinch Premiership match at Dens Park was postponed again.

The game has been rescheduled for next Wednesday night – April 17, with an 8pm kick-off – after referee Don Robertson deemed the waterlogged pitch unplayable following a second inspection of the day at 3.30pm.

It is the second time the game has been postponed – the first came last month, 90 minutes before the scheduled kick-off.

It is also the fifth time Dundee’s pitch has fallen foul of the weather this season and Motherwell manager Stuart Kettlewell claimed his side’s game on Saturday should not have gone ahead after the pitch passed a 1pm inspection.

City should have been docked points – Mourinho

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho believes it was unfair that Manchester City were not hit with a points deduction for breaching Financial Fair Play rules.

City were hit with a £49million fine last year for failing to come into line with FFP guidelines, which came into effect in the 2011-12 season.

Mourinho, though, thinks docking points would be a more effective deterrent than hitting clubs in the pocket.

When Manchester City pays off 50 millions of fine because they exceeded the FFP, I think it s unfair. FFP should be fulfilled and that s it, Mourinho told the Daily Mail.

[Violators] should be punished with loss of points. Our owner [Roman Abramovich] wants to fulfil FFP. He doesn t want to enter these dynamics of paying the fine.

Liverpool consider Draxler bid

Liverpool could be set to move for Paris Saint Germain forward Julian Draxler should Philippe Coutinho be sold to Barcelona.

Coutinho continues to be linked with a move to the Nou Camp despite the Reds holding firm during the close season by rejecting a number of big money offers for the Brazilian.

The Catalan club are likely to bid once again, if not when the window reopens in January then at the end of the season and Liverpool are considering potential replacements.

Draxler would fit the bill and could be a viable option as he has not been a regular starter since signing for PSG from Wolfsburg in the summer of 2016.

He has racked up thirty-three appearances in all competitions for the Ligue 1 giants, scoring eleven goals while he helped them win tw…

Martino lauds Messi for selfless performance

Argentina coach Gerardo Martino said Lionel Messi does not need goals to be happy after the Barcelona forward failed to score but starred in a playmaking role in the 6-1 win over Paraguay.

Messi dropped deep into midfield, participated in five of the six goals and ended the night with three assists as they turned it on in Concepcion on Tuesday to set up a final against Chile in Santiago on Saturday.

Argentina earned a final berth against hosts Chile in Santiago on Saturday.

If Messi gives passes that end up in goals then there is no problem, Martino told a news conference.

What is more important is that he responds to what the game demands. He doesn t look worried to me. He is happy and he has no problems.

He doesn t need to be the team s goals…
