´If he wants to leave it will be a short meeting´ – FFF chief to let Deschamps decide future

Didier Deschamps future as France head coach will be left up to him when he meets French Football Federation (FFF) president Noel Le Graet next week.

France reached a second consecutive World Cup final in Qatar, but were heartbreakingly defeated 4-2 on penalties by Argentina following a 3-3 draw after extra time.

With Deschamps contract expiring at the conclusion of the tournament, it is unclear whether the 54-year-old will decide to continue on in his role.

But with Deschamps leading France to three major tournament finals since his appointment in 2012, Le Graet is hopeful the former midfielder will choose to stay on when they talk next week.

Jorginho ´would like to stay´ at Chelsea amid reports of Italy return

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has said he would like to stay at Stamford Bridge, though admitted he does not know what his long-term future holds.

The Italy international has just one year remaining on his current deal at the club, and reports have linked him with a return to Serie A.

Jorginho – who joined Chelsea from Napoli in 2018 – made 47 appearances in all competitions for Thomas Tuchel s men in 2021-22, scoring nine goals, all of which were penalties, and addressed his future during pre-season preparations in Los Angeles.

Of course, I love Chelsea. I feel very well here and of course, I d like to stay, he said. But you know, there is a lot going on and we don t know.

I am here now, I have a contract and I love to be here. I feel very well here,…

Liverpool better placed than Chelsea and Man Utd to rival City – Bosnich

Liverpool are the side that will provide reigning Premier League champions Manchester City with their sternest title test this season.

That is according to Mark Bosnich, who told Stats Perform he also expects Chelsea and his former club Manchester United to be in the running for top spot.

City won their third title in four seasons last time out, and a fifth in 10 years, as they finished 12 points clear of closest challengers United.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer s side have strengthened with the signing of Jadon Sancho and imminent arrival of Raphael Varane for reported combined fees of £115million.

City spent £100m to make Jack Grealish the most expensive player in British history, meanwhile, and Chelsea have re-signed Romelu Lukaku for just less.

Man Utd´s De Gea hails ´massive win´ but dismisses title talk

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea lauded the last-gasp win against Wolves but refused to get carried away with growing title talk as he urged focus.

Marcus Rashford s 93rd-minute goal lifted in-form United past Wolves 1-0 and up to second in the Premier League on Tuesday.

The turgid contest appeared to be petering out for a draw at Old Trafford before Rashford popped up in stoppage time with a deflected strike after Bruno Fernandes had played through the England international.

United are in the midst of a nine-match unbeaten streak in the Premier League to be within two points of defending champions and leaders Liverpool.

It was a massive win, we scored at the end of the game, a tight game against a good team, this is the way to be at the top of…

Lazio 3-1 Inter Milan: What Did We Learn As The Biancocelesti Run Rampant In Rome?

In what was a heavyweight showdown from Serie A on Friday night, Lazio laid down a clinical marker as they stormed their way to a 3-1 romp against Inter Milan.

Extending on their unbeaten start to the 2022/23 campaign, goals from Felipe Anderson, Luis Alberto and Pedro wrapped up a famous victory for Maurizio Sarri s side.

While Lazio might have briefly skyrocketed their way to the top of Italy s top-flight, there is no doubt that Inter would have simply been desperate to get away from the Stadio Olimpico.

Crashing back down to earth after opening the new season with back-to-back Serie A wins, we have taken a look at what we learned from Friday s battle in Rome.

Valencia 0-1 Barcelona: Lewandowski late show downs Los Che

Robert Lewandowski s stoppage-time goal earned Barcelona a morale-boosting 1-0 win over Valencia at Mestalla on Saturday.

Both teams had efforts disallowed and also lost players to injury in a game that had otherwise been low on incidents.

That was until Lewandowski popped up to score a 93rd-minute winner, taking Barca back to the top of LaLiga – albeit Real Madrid do not face Girona until Sunday.

Valencia boss Gennaro Gattuso will be disappointed not to have taken something after an impressive defensive effort from his team, only to suffer late heartbreak.

Valverde joins Benzema on Real Madrid sidelines as Ancelotti loses another star man

Federico Valverde will miss Real Madrid s Champions League game at RB Leipzig on Tuesday, joining Karim Benzema in being ruled out of the trip to Germany.

Uruguayan midfielder Valverde has been in revelatory form for Madrid this season and scored his seventh goal of the campaign in Saturday s 3-1 win against Sevilla.

However, he took a heavy knock late in that game after being clattered by Papu Gomez, who was booked, and that blow has counted Valverde out of head coach Carlo Ancelotti s midweek plans.

Atletico ´working very well´, says Simeone after draw at Real Sociedad

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone acknowledged his team need to do better going forward, while praising their effective defence, after drawing 1-1 with Real Sociedad on Sunday.

Atleti went a goal ahead through Julian Alvarez after just 51 seconds, but were unable to add to that before conceding a long-range strike from Luka Sucic with six minutes left.

That goal was one of just five that Simeone s side have conceded in LaLiga this season, which is at least two fewer than any other team, but they failed to have another shot on target after taking the lead.

The visitors attacking impotence is something Simeone was acutely aware of, while also wanting to be balanced and praise the team s efforts at the opposite end.

The team found the goal and defended …
